FASTING BUDDHA

“Immediately after the American War, historic artifacts were no longer considered valuable by society and many pieces were left to ruin or smuggled out of the country. During that time, I was traveling in Thanh Hoa and saw a young boy on a buffalo dragging this statue using a rope attached to the statue’s neck. I was so worried that the statue would be destroyed so I begged the boy for it, and he handed it over without question.”

– Thanh Chuong

STONE BRIDGE

“This stone bridge is from Nam Dinh, a province rich in history just south of Hanoi. It is 500-600 years old. It was in a bad state when I found it so I agreed with the village elders to purchase the bridge, take it to Hanoi, and restore it.”
